Brave New Voices Festival
The 12th annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival, convenes the top young poets and spoken word artists, aged 13-19, from across the United States and beyond. Brave New Voices is a one-of-a-kind festival that truly engages everyone involved; from the participants, to the adult mentors and the audience members.

Brave New Voices 2009 will take place in Chicago, IL

from July 14 - 19.

Did anybody watch it last night?

I went to the fundraising screening yesterday and saw the first 2 episodes. Philly is shown in the second episodes, but their poetry is part of the theme intro to the series (similar to a theme song)

When you hear this: I'm just afraid to raise a black son

This thing is good. The second episode is almost tearjerking.

i watched the 1st episode last night. i was impressed. it is good. i can't wait to see the philly episode!

i missed the screening and fell asleep before it aired . I heard only good things. I can't wait!

Don't know if was the first episode, but there's another poet that looks like Pharrell (Neptunes).

B Yung is that dude! He looks so much like NAS...I think that might be his son on the low...Never saw that much resemblence...

Philly is the bomb tho.

And Greg said that originally they were not planning on filming Philly until they learned they actually won the year before. They came to them mid-way through it.

I'm not give anything else away, but ya'll are gonna be hype when they show Philly because there was a filming that I remember some of ya'll being there at as judges.

Man it was awesome...wish I woulda went to the screening, I'm already feening for the next episode. I'm such a fan...lol. I've been talking about it all day in school and with my sister. I couldn't see the nas in him but hell Im often off point with face recognition:|.

i didn't know about the screening until after it happened. but if there's another i'd like to go!
