 Short OR Long Articles?

I like the Metro newspaper...mostly because the articles are short. The style is geared towards the metropolitan city commuter. It gives you just enough news for your train, bus or subway ride.

I want to move to shorter articles and am looking for ways to encourage writers to write shorter. The thing is...the attention span of today is getting more and more short. Folks don't read in-depth like we used to...maybe we just don't have time (?).

Do you read long articles? (Long meaning, "story continued on page...."

Do you prefer short articles? ( 1 to 2 paragraphs)...

It depends on the subject matter. If it's something that I'm not or only partially interested in, I would probably skip a long article. If it's something that is interesting to me, then short articles are annoying because they usually end up leaving out lots of pertinent details.

A lot of magazines do both - a few longer feature stories, some mid-length columns, and some sections with a bunch of blurbs
