Okay - so Alyson you remember that text you sent me yesterday about Wednesday, changing scenery, and so on?

I got inspired and I want to open it up to the boards. I'm going to take on the challenge of New Thing ____day ( <-insert your day of the week here, New Thing Tuesdays, etc.). This is where we do something new (go some place different, do something different, dress different, eat different OR whatever - just different from your normal routine, behavior, choices.

Feel free to come back to the boards and share your experience (What you did and what it was like)

Doing a new thing can be anything and doesn't always have to cost money - it can be going a different place, physically doing something different, dressing different, just something out of your normal routine. Can be a small thing or big thing. Example - a shy person starting a conversation, or a gregarious person being quiet, and so on.

Well, I might start today...I'll come back and let you know how I did.

I'm glad i could be an inspiration.

To clue everyone in, I sent tizzy a text saying that I understood why writers went on retreats or stayed somewhere different for months in order to write. I told her that I would take a day trip every Wednesday to change my scenery. (And since I don't have a job, I need to make the best use of my time and money.) So, today was the 1st Wednesday:

I went to Bogarts Books in Millville, NJ . I have never been to Millville, but it has a big arts festival every year. I wanted to concentrate on writing my challenge poems and check out how a local bookstore (new & used books) was being run. I bought 6 GREAT books for under $20 and learned a lot by listening to the owner talk. I will be returning.

Then, I picked up a friend who lives close by for lunch and we ended up at a Vietnamese restaurant, also in Millville. (I never had Vietnamese food before.) The owner welcomed us in and suggested the menu for us. We went with her suggestions and I actually LOVED it (some of ya'll know how picky I am.) I will definitely eat there again.

Nice. Sounds real spontaneus.

Usually for lunch I get the same thing Salmon or something from the vegetarion spot in the Reading Terminal - yesterday my new thing was order take out from a nice lil restaurant downtown (Maggiano's). After that, I walked in the masonic temple and inquired about the tour schedule.

That felt good. (Normally I would have walked past the masonic temple and "made a mental note" to go online and look up the info) But actually stepping foot in the place seemed to make a difference. Made it more real. Like from thinking about it to doing it.
