This book is whatsup. I had it for a while, but I was recently drawn to it again.

The full title is RICH DAD, POOR DAD: what the rich teach their kids about money - that the poor and middle class do not

I love it and am making some changes already. I'm in Chapter 3 and the running theme is that...people think the answer to their problems is obtaining more money, but really the problem is in your spending habits, financial illiteracy...and not knowing the real meaning / difference between an asset and liability.

The theme is the POOR DAD who is a college professor, owns a home, makes good money - but is financially illiterate and works to pay bills...and then there is the RICH DAD who didn't finish high school (?), owns several properties, runs a business, has a cash flow that to his income, is the financially literate one.

They talk about how & why people become slaves to their jobs...and a whole lot more.

I'm only on chapter 3...and I'm going to get rid of my storage space that I rent...because I know this is an asset ...I'll have to sell or junk that stuff I'm holding onto...there are some other changes I'll make.

Anybody need a sewing machine Smile

I could use a sewing machine. But until I buy my own crib, it'll have to go in my storage space Wink

I've never read rich dad, poor dad, but i've heard both good and bad things about it. i'm not big on personal finance books, even though i read A LOT of news coverage, blogs and articles. i like my information straight forward and FREE. Laughing

but for real, holla at me about the sewing machine.

cool - the sewing machine is yours!

I like the book a lot because it makes subjects that I would not normally be interested in or enthusiastic about and makes them intriguing...causes action in inactive areas for me.

Although a friend told me that this book is his best one, and that the others he published after this one are a little diluted.

interesting quotes from book:

The rich buy assets
The poor only have expenses
The middle class buys liabilities they think are assets

"Employees earn and get taxed and they try to live on what is left. A corporation earns, spends everything it can, and is taxed on anything that is left"

"instead of shopping at the local real estate office, I began shopping at the bankruptcy attorney's office or the the courthouse steps"
