Erykah Badu is going to release album #2 on cd AND on USB stick.

People that buy the USB stick will get videos, interviews, as well as music...they will get a code to get the latest updates.

Now that's taking charge of technology and making it work for you.

I think it's kind of gimmicky. A CD holds 700MB of data and costs less than $0.20. A 512MB USB stick would be at least a few dollars. Even a 4GB DVD would be cheaper.

So, that must mean the albums are either going to be short to have room for the videos..but this is good info (the MB size and so on)

I would buy it just out of curiosity

you can re-use the USB stick once the files are on your computer though...you can't re-use a CD or DVD...

i like the idea just because it's different.

I love the idea.

I think it has promise and different is what is needed right now.

A guy said to me...when describing the state of todays industry..."We are like emancipated slaves. Now that we have this freedom, nobody knows what to do with it" Right now, people are looking for different formulas to give them an edge, or give them more control in this techno-consumer era...what will make people buy music again in a way that is more profitable to the artist and the labels?

The labels are even trying to get a larger cut on tour money - that's how desperate its getting.

USB has a lot of possibilities - if they can make it work with the memory and size situation.

Badu has two albums coming out this year. The first one on Feb 26th. The second one is expected in the summer...and this is the one which will have the USB option.

a coworker was just telling me about a band that released an album that was released in a wallet. not a cardboard jacket called a wallet, but an actual wallet.

the lyrcis were printed on business cards and inserted inside, the band photos were wallet-sized pictures inserted in the plastic oicture area, and the music was on a card disc that was made to ressemble an american express card. (a card disc is the size of a business card.) i love the idea but a card disc can only store half of the data that an actual CD can store.)

i just thought is was really create (AND extemely expensive.)

that is SO dope!!!

that shows there was some thought...they wanted to add a special touch...I think that is so cool.

And that really caters to the whole "fan" thing...

If they can get past the card size / memory thing...

***looks like its getting closer
