Ever been to a Sherriff Sale? How does it work?

Can someone explain the ads for sherriff sales? There are dollar amounts listed for the homes (have these homes been taken because of mortgage payment issues - and now they are the property of the government?)

Is the dollar amount listed with the sherriff sale ad the amount that has to be paid up front OR can you pay a percentage of that?

I think I read in the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad...something about paying a percentage of the sherriff sale price

I don't know much about the Sheriff sale prices but I think most of them are up for auction because of defaulted mortgages and non payment of taxes. I always wanted to go to one, but they are in the mornings and I work so I haven't made it to one yet. There is a website that explains some stuff but it doesn't really go into detail for some reason. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Exactly.

I don't know a lot about how they work, though, because I haven't been to one.
