2 women had to be hospitalized after a brazilian bikini wax that led to a serious infection. They filed a lawsuit
affraid

In Essence mag, they reported the incident and suggested asking salon / spa if they are re-using the wax.

New Jersey had initially banned the brazillian wax because of this incident, but in Essence, they said the ban was lifted.

***can you imagine going to a spa to treat yourself...and being hospitalized?

no (at first), but the spa visit itself and the results after the procedure may be a "yes" for some.

I would not recommend this type of procedure - a little too close for comfort with a person that doesnt have M.D. after their name. But some people really like it.

well i've never done a brazillian but i did get my eyebrows and chin done for a function and i ended up with a nasty infection. Mad won't be going back there EVER again! No That's why i don't really like to mess with that stuff anyway, cuz ya never know. The things we do/risks we take for beauty scratch

I never had the brazilian but I had the bikini wax (not as major - typical for bathing suits)...but still painful. I can't even imagine the brazilian...that's way extra to me, lol

I went to Total Serenity Day Spa...and the lady there told me that all she really does is Brazilians and that "once you get it you'll always want it". She also said that they weren't really a popular request until "Sex and the City" tv show came out talking about it...and people all of sudden started requesting it.

I was like, yeah-yeah-yeah...I'll have the usual.

i went to toppers (hated it!) and breathe @ the lowes. i absolutely LOVE breathe.

i've had bikini wax and i do love it. especially in the summer. (can't do brazilian - can you imagine those ingrown hairs?! pale ) i've also had my underarms waxed (GREAT for vacations but it hurts like hell - worse than a bikini wax) and of course my eyebrows.

i think the problem is 'salons' are popping up in every shopping center now and about 50% of them are dirty and no good. if i went to school for 2 years (i think that's how long it is full time) i can open a spot right after graduation and make good money off the hood. my dry cleaner opened a 'salon' next to her shop. i went to ask a lady how much she charged for braids, and i saw the lady that does my clothes giving a pedicure. i never went back.

another problem is if people are allergic to the wax or if the wax is too hot.
