PostSubject: Being Chosen Vs. Being Sent   Mon Aug 17, 2009 11:30 am

Do you think there is a difference?

When I say "chosen" -I'm thinking of being chosen, called, to do some spiritual work...serving people.

I thought about this today and am still thinking on it.

I think chosen people still have flaws, still have very human ways (arrogance, pride) that get tested and sometimes chosen people can fail these tests...but it doesnt stop them from being chosen. Chosen seems like you are handpicked from where you are. As you are. You're flaws may be useful in what you are chosen for.

Being sent seems different. Being sent seems like there are no human flaws and shortcomings. Being sent seems like that person is already complete for their purpose. Nothing sways them. They are sent, serve thier purpose and then they are gone.

Chosen = prophets, leaders
Sent = messiahs, servants
?

I have asked a couple people this question....Your thoughts?

even someone who is sent would have flaws as no man is perfect. i'm quite sure jesus had some sort of flaw(s) during his time here on earth. even though he was god's son (if that is what you believe) he was ultimately a man like other men.

in greek/roman mythology, even the gods had flaws and 'sinned'.

personally, i don't think anyone is sent. i believe they are chosen. some rise to the call and accept the challenge, and some do not. i think that the people who you believe are 'sent' are just the ones who have the faith, courage, strength, and determination to see the challenge through - no matter the risk involved. those that do not heed that same call, fall prey to their flaws.

did i make sense? lol.
