I learned when I was really young, but I didn't get a really good understanding of the game until high school. One of my teachers was a Grand Master, and somehow he triggered a chess revolution one year. At any time during the schoolday, there would be several chess games going on in the halls.
Later on, i gotr back into it at Crimson Moon for a bit.

I've always wanted to be a chess player! I've been taught several times, but I never stick with it and forget how the pieces move. When I do play though, I think I'm blessed with beginners luck. Unless.... people are just letting me win because I'm a beginner. I don't know. but I would have to find someone or some people that I could play with on a regular basis so that I could really understand how to play the game. Usually when I play, I'm so focused on whether I'm moving the man in the right direction that I totally don't pay attention to strategy.

You should try one of the online gaming services that let you play against other people - I think yahoo still has a games site
Chess strategy comes down to seeing all the possibilities on the board, thinking several moves ahead, and having a reason behind every move.
