Almost everybody has a song that they can put on that lifts their mood when they need it. Some even have whole albums that do it...

I'm listening to "Sarah's Smile" by the Stylistics. The music arrangement, the distinct voice, the words, the background singing "smii - ile"...its a slow, old folk groove and it seems to balance me out. Especially soon as the music itself comes on in the beginning...it hits the spot...I think that's a guitar in the beginning??

I think this song is from the 60s or 70s

"Zoom" is another one, but today its "Sarah's Smile" I don't have a current situation of my own to make me relate to this song, but I just love the story and the love in this song.

Q: What's your pick me up song? and does it change from time to time?

Do you mean the song by Hall and Oates or a different song that's by the Stylistics?

Fantasy by Earth Wind and Fire does it for me.
Got to Be There by the Jackson 5.
For Once In My Life by Stevie Wonder.
It's Love by Jill Scott.
We Major by Kanye West.
The whole Pages of Life album by Fred Hammond.
Killer Joe and Moody's Mood for Love as remade on Quincy Jones' Q's Jook Joint album.
The Brazilian Wedding Song on Q's Back on the Block album.
Don't Stop Til You Get Enough by Michael Jackson.
Superwoman/Where Were You When I Needed You by Stevie Wonder, which is weird, 'cause the subject matter is NOT a pick-me-up...
After the Dance by Marvin Gaye.
Damn near anything by James Brown.
I Feel Good and Home by Stephanie Mills.
Love Me In a Special Way be DeBarge.

Oh I got a lot more of 'em. They can each immediately improve my mood, or enhance it when I'm already happy. It changes with time, though.

You know what - I thought to myself it was Hall & Oates too, but when I dumped it on my computer, the media library automatically lists it as "Stylistics" from some 60s and 70s music compilation

I burned it off a co-worker who I heard playing it one day. IT DEFINITELY sounds like Hall & Oates to me.

That song almost killed me. Years ago, I had the Thriller tape on while I was driving, and PYT came on, and the next thing I knew I had ran the damn light. That's my song, though... LOL!
