I finally got a copy of the Last Poets self titled first album from 1970. I had never heard it before even though my father used to always recite or write down the lyrics for me as a teenager. And there are many samples from this that I've heard in hip-hop albums (Brand Nubian comes to mind). It's interesting to hear it in 2007. Quiet Rage definitely reminds me of them. Has anyone else heard this album? What do you think about the group?

I HAVE HEARD IT AND OWN A COPY.GROUND BREAKING ART AS WE MUST CONSIDER THE TIME IN WHICH IT HAD COME OUT OF. QUIET RAGE CAN BE A VERY FAIR COMPARISON THEY EVOLE WHAT THE LAST POETS STARTED. MET THEM TWICE IN WEST PHILLY I RECITED ABOUT FOUR POEMS IN THEIR PRESENCE IN WEST PHILLY AND IN NORTH PHILLY I OPEN FOR THEM. BOTH TIMES THEY EMBRACE ME LIKE A SON AND TOLD ME .WELL I WILL KEEP THAT TO MYSELF BUT IT WAS SOMETHING I COULD NOT EVEN RESPOND TO I WAS ON STUCK.AT THE NORTH PHILLY EVENT THEY SIGNED THE CD. I WAS VERY SUPRISED THEY REMEMBERED MY NAME WHEN HE SIGNED THE CD. BY THE WAY IT IS GREAT WORD ART.
