Hey Folks,

You know how you come across songs and you wonder what they mean, or songs that have some cool wordplay and you wonder how other people are interpreting it?

Well, I started this topic because I have a question about one of Solange's songs, "Would've Been the One"

The wordplay is crazy.

The way I see it, I think she is talking to the man, and the other girls in line (?)

This line, I wasn't sure who she was talking to and I wanted to know if anybody has a different or similar interpretation:

And you don't know, you fill many spaces
and she don't know, she's one of many in line
And he don't know, how he stole many places
and we all know, we can't fix him if we tried
But I would've been the one

---Who is she talking to in the bolded line? The girl, the cheating guy, herself?...

Verse 2 is a banger tho!

Now number 4 was there to ride
and 5 was crazy, his wild child
and when we're rocky
he calls number 9

I just took that line to mean that he holds a place in all these different women's lives. he's juggling and the other women don't know. they probably have a gut feeling, but feel like they can change him. and they probably ALL feel that they are the "one". and Solange in hind sight is just interpreting what's going on or what went on.
