Iran - women gets legal revenge "eye for an eye"

A woman in Iran was attacked with acid by a man who she rejected romantically. The attack left her face terribly disfigured...one of her eyes looks like it was completely devoured. The article shows her holding a beautiful picture of herself before the attack

REVENGE
The judge in Tehran ruled on her behalf and is allowing her to do the same to her attacker. They are going to tie him down, drug him, allow her to feel her way to his eyes...and she gets to drop 20 drops of the same acid in his eyes.

Bone chilling...Mental note to self - never visit Iran.

Its so twisted - I'm neutral - I cannot even say because I think its both a sadistic ruling, but at the same time karma.

I'm kind of back and forth, but in the end I think I disagree. Doing that won't help her get her old face back. Whatever satisfaction she gets from it won't last.

i'm happy that the judge ruled in favor of the woman. normally they rule against women in the middle east (which is one reason why i won't visit there alone even though i REALLY want to go and no one wants to go with me.)

do i agree with the ruling? YES. it sends a POWERFUL message to men about their treatment of women. perhaps they will now think twice before they abuse women for trivial reasons. and i don't think she's doing it to get revenge or even 'satisfaction', it's about the message it sends. SHE shoudl be the one to do it - not a cop, not a man.

I dunno if it is accurate but the article specifically states that the sentence was in response to her "plea for vengeance."

Do you think this is the best way to send that message? Would you rule the same way if you were the judge?

just had a chance to read the article. so she is doing it for revenge. that's not a good idea. it just continues the cycle. if she were sending a message, i could understand. but revenge is an animal you don't feed.

That poor woman. I disagree with what she's going to do but I don't fault her for wanting to get revenge. I think that desire would be natural in her circumstances, but I think she should work on it and allow time to let that desire subside. She will have to live with what she is doing to this man for the rest of her life, and I think she will regret it one day. But he deserves some kind of punishment - what he took from her is irreplaceable, and I don't just mean her sight or her looks.
