PostSubject: proper dress @ 31?   Mon Dec 14, 2009 12:33 pm

so i'm searching for a sexy and sophisticated NYE dress. me being me, i want it to be a dress that i can wear again. and since it's my 1st NYE out in years, i want to look AMAZING. (I normally work or have sleep overs with the kids.)

my friend went and got a nice 'club' dress from lord & taylors. SHARP. but that's not my style (short and kinda tight.) i was online yesterday and alyssa looked at the dress that i liked the most and said, "well, it's kinda skanky." WHAT? She told me that it was too short for ME. (but if someone else wore it it would be fine.)

here's the dress: http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=436463

i don't see skanky at all, especially with black opague stockings.

but my issue is, my daughter is worried about how i dress. and i'm no pam anderson, but i'll be damned if i wear a mumu because they don't think a mom should be sexy. i already passed over the red leather over-the-knee boots cuz i knew they would just DIE. but how much should i be expected to compromise? maybe i should walk around with sweats and rollers so alyssa will appreciate my style. (and tiny has no problem with what i do, it's just my 11 yr old.)

That dress is hot. The thing with your Tweener is she doesnt want her mom to look hot because all of her classmates (boys) probably are saying things refering to how hot her mom is. cheers
As a substitute teacher, i see it all the time. The youngins love a MILF.
Take it as a compliment, and maybe you should roll up in there with some sweats and rollers in your hair to make her appreciate your style.

Originally when I got the text - I immediately sided with Alyssa (shame on me)....The dress is niiiice!!! Not skanky at all.

Alyssa has a lot of virtue at such a young age **talking about something being too short...good girl Smile

alyssa doesn't have a lot of virtue at all! she's my child! LOL. she just doesn't want her MOM to be sexy. she would consider that dress to be sharp if anyone other than me wore it. (i'm mom therefore i'm corny.) that's why when i'm with them, it's normally tees, jeans & uggs. lol.

and actually, tiny is the more conservative one.
