hola peoples...

so, my brother suggested that i show the fight on saturday at the bbq. i have no problem doing it, but then i realized that i would be paying for the fight, food, and drink (and i'm not working.) would it be tacky to have a 'fight donation' jar near the TV? my friend's fiance told me to charge people $5 when they walk in the door. (but he's a little more ignorant than i am - i wouldn't do that.) lol.

I don't think that's ignorant. i think with people understanding the way the economy is, things like these are more acceptable. if you do go with that idea i think you should just let people know in advance, cuz there's nothing like showing up to an event that you thought was free and it isn't especially for me cuz i don't carry cash on me all the time.

Fight donation jar...that sounds cool BUT have a girlfriend mention it to people right before it comes on ("ok guys the fights about to start, Alyson was kind enough to let us watch it here, but whoever want to make a donation, there's a cute little donation jar on the left")

then again - my social ettiquette is kind of off sometimes...so ignore my reply!!!

Nothing wrong with fight donations as long as folks know beforehand. I would make it an option - at the last bbq I went to, the host said that if enough people were willing to put in, he would order the fight.

thanks for the input guys. i don't think i'm gonna do it (ask for donations.) i have a big bbq once a year for a reason (so i can go all out at one time.) i want people coming this year for the same reasons they come every year. the fight will just be an added bonus. (and i just won't order BBQ chix wings this year to save $$$.)

UPDATE: right before the fight, my friend's fiance called me into the kitchen. he had a pot in his hand and asked if he should take it around the living room. LOL. (of course, i told him no. but it was still funny.)
