Asante is a 26 year old professor, author and film-maker...new book called "Its Bigger than Hip-Hop"

*good article on him in todays Metro.

There's a quote he used by Frantz Fanon, "each generation out of a relative obscurity, must discover its mission and either fulfill or betray it"

that was SO powerful to me....he uses this quote to say that there is a new generation of hip-hop children that are aiming to fulfill its mission as what Asante calls "black resistance music..."

I went to his book signing last saturday @ the painted bride. It was really impressive and powerful. I'm reading his book now.

i think i saw glory do it once. I figured, since the post is going to show that I edited, i might as well say what i changed.
