PostSubject: is it a date?   Tue May 19, 2009 10:56 am

so i'm going out with a poet friend tonight. i've known him for years and lately he's been asking to meet up. (normally i just see him at events.) i know he's been going through a lot, so i decided to finally say yes. he said he wanted to hang out and grab dinner. no problem, seems harmless. BUT, he wants to pick me up from my house. (even though i said i could meet him somewhere.)

is him picking me up making this a date? scratch if so, how do i let him know (nicely) that i'm not interested? (the keyword is 'nicely' - i don't know how to do that all of the time.)

ALSO, i have to get my hair done today for something that i have to do tomorrow and i told him that i might run late b/c i have to get my hair done. i HOPE he doesn't think that HE's the reason for the spiffy do. Neutral

whew - sounds ya'll have accidentally made it a date.

He sounds like he knew it was a date (picking up from the crib)
and you slipped up with TMI...now he might think you are getting right for him. Where else you going to the spa? LOL!!!

have fun! Good post. I have found myself in similar situations.

well, i spoke to some male friends here @ work and they said the same thing. they also told me to "let him down nicely" and either cancel or drive myself. i'm gonna drive myself.

i ended up meeting him there (an hour late.) i told him i was involved and he was cool with that. a mutual friend told me that he's always liked and was interested in me (i completely missed the signs.) anyway, it was a decent night. i just really think he needed someone to talk to cause he said he was depressed.
